The Burning of the Palms is a Shrove Tuesday event held at st-pauls-salem to prepare ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Description

Following the [[event-3190154|Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper]], parishioners gather in the church playground for a brief liturgy to burn dried palm fronds and palm crosses saved from past Palm Sunday services. The resulting ashes are mixed with oil to be used during the Ash Wednesday services on February 18, 2026.

Parishioners are invited to drop off old palms at the Church Office or leave them on the glass case in the Parish Hall prior to the event.
